One in two youngsters between 16 and 21 years (or 53%) suffers from physical and sexual abuse while dating, revealed a survey. Almost a similar number (47%) is abused mentally and emotionally. Yet, strangely only 2% of the abused walk out on such partners.
An alarming 40% of late adolescents (16-18 years) and early adults (19-21) admitted to being victims of date rapes, sexual abuse and forced sexual acts, found a survey by students at Nirmala Niketan College of Home Science. It also revealed how social media platforms are emerging as weapons of abuse.
